Bike Stolen
I have had my Cervelo RS stolen. It's a black and red one. Let me know if by some slight chance someone has seen it.
Please could we bear in mind the following- I learnt it the hard way.
Burglars are most likely to break into places near to their own neighbourhood, because they know the escape routes and their familiarity with the area is a great confidence boost, before they commit something fraught with danger.
Despite this, cyclists often advertise with neon lights **easily re-sellable, high value bikes stored here** to local burglars by: warming down with a couple of slow laps round the block, cycling at a reduced speed in the last 50 metres to our home and displaying our [best] bikes more frequently outside our place, as summer approaches.
Also, Joe Public knows “lycra cyclist = nice bike” and our back is often turned to the would-be thief scanning our storing of a bike.
So please consider only turning your bike up the driveway of your house/flat when nobody is walking down the street. If anyone’s nearby, just cycle right past your place and return a few minutes later.
This costs nothing to do and “an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure”.

another bike stolen
My bike was nicked too. Worth £2000 new, nicked from round the back of a house I was only in for 2 minutes - unlocked, uninsured! Lesson learnt for me there! The following link isn't my actual bike, but it's the same model and colour. If anyone sees any oiks riding around on this could you let me / the police know. Thanks. Michael

I am pretty careful with bikes and security, but it did not stop some youths trying to open my garage (which is part of the house) with a crowbar two weeks ago a 1:45 in the morning. I assume they thought they could get something before I got downstairs to stop them. They managed to do some damage to the door. I was surprised home much of the noise was masked by the wind and rain that night, even though we sleep in the room above the garage. So I would suggest to anybody to also have there bikes cabled up to stop this sort of thing happening and at least an alarm in their garage. None of the neighbours heard a thing.

Sorry to hear that someone likes your bike better than you, Dave. I hope they catch the scum and then make them ride a bike with a seat pillar and no saddle!
Anyway, my tip is this.... Baby alarm. Strange idea, I know but I first heard of this twenty years ago and have used it since. just plug it in, or use a battery model and then have the listening device in the bedroom. Cheaper than getting your shed/garage wired up and alarmed. I also agree with another poster, keep your bikes locked up in the garage/shed, preferably to a solid anchor point.
