Who's up for a pud-burning post-Christmas ride?

Metcheck tells me that the weather's going to be good up to Thursday, then the winter will close in.

Let's get a ride in before that happens. I'll tentatively say 10am at the square on Wednesday or Thursday for three hours of riding - which day would anyone prefer?

I'd be up for a ride out Wednesday or Thursday, can make either day.

If it's Weds there should be a group out from Ex Square at 9.30. Usually about 8 out. It's usually fairly brisk about 4 hours / 60-70 miles with a cafe stop. If you fancy joining us just turn up.

Ps there's also a CTC group leaves the square around the same time so make sure you join the right group!

9:30am in the square on Wednesday sounds like a good idea! How quick is "fairly brisk?"

The pace tends to be about the same as the faster social group on a Saturday- whatever the 'intermediates' are now called- usually about 18mph average for the distance. There will be a cafe stop- usually about 2/3 of the way round the ride. I'm usually glad of the breather by then!

The other thing is to be prompt- whereas the social rides tend to wait a little for latecomers, this group doesn't, as I have found to my cost before!

Won't be able to make tomorrows ride, however I was out Xmas eve with Kevin and weather permitting there will probably be aride this Saturday. He mentioned Helmsley as this gives more cafe options.

Decided that forecasted gale-force winds pointed towards an early start and a solo pud-burner, so got out at half-eight and did the regular westerly route such that by the time the wind really picked up it was a 30mph tailwind. Still got blown around all over the road. Anyway, pud dealt with. Next:- the figs in madeira with marscapone...

I consider my pud to be well and truly burned: I dropped off the back at Newton on Ouse but someone else conveniently punctured a few seconds later, giving me time to down a gel and recover before the last bit back to York. That was a good ride, thanks guys.

I'm not going to be out, I've had a cold since Christmas Eve but it seems to be getting worse. Sorry!

9 of us out for a westerly loop across to the far side of Harrogate, brew at Knaresbrough and return via Aldwark Bridge. Sporting my new Clifton longs courtesy of Fr. Xmas! Very hard on the way out but much better once we had the wind behind us. Like Phil the honking tailwind made the return pretty pleasant although the pace ramped up a bit around Overton which caused the group to split in 2. In all just over 70 miles covered. A good pud burner, might even have taken care of the kilo of mince pies I've also eaten in the last week! I wonder if Cav has the same issues?
