Kit list

Post by Gunwitch »

Hi folks.
Been looking at the "kit list" for people showing up for group rides. Is it a compulsory requirement for everyone to have everything on the list?

Hi Gunwitch

It is not a compulsary requirement to carry the suggested items. We do however turn people away if they are not wearing a helmet on a club MTB ride.

Hi Steph, cheers for clearing that up.
I've had too many close calls not to wear a helmet. Better safe than sorry.

Hi Nat,

Welcome :)

The kit list was put together after a few 'issues' this year. It's not meant to be prescriptive or compulsory but is a good guide to ensure you and your bike will get round one of our rides in one piece. It also takes some of the pressure off the ride leader if they know that everyone has the right kit. Most of our rides head through some pretty remote areas so, unlike our road colleagues, we don't always have the option to bale out or call for help.

Some common sense can apply too. The kit we take on a summer evening blast differs quite a bit from our 2 day tours.

It's all about being well equipped enough to be safe and self sufficient....which means you can spend more time enjoying the riding.

See you out soon...?
