Race Across America: Good luck Brian!

Post by G. »

The Race Across America started yesterday, today is the start for the solo men, who now have twelve days to ride from California to Maryland.

You may notice that the only solo male from Britain is one Mr Brian Welsh, formerly of these parts. Stacey's team manager and Billy Geraghty is part of the support crew. The RAAM site will post results each day so we can see how he's doing.

So close - Brian's listed as DNF after missing the cutoff at TS 52, 3 stations and less than 55 miles from the finish. At least, that what the site says, I'm sure BillyG can tell us more when he gets back.

Still, what an amazing effort!

Just looked now and says
52 Mt Airy, MD 2934.9 54.6 06/27/2011 14:14 11:22:19 10.25 12
Fingers crossed. Come on Brian only 54 miles to go!

Bit more reading of raam website and i think Brian arrived at 52 but is listed as DNF. Other solos are up to 55.

Main thing "is he ok"?

Been following Brian's progress for the last 12 days on the RAAM website and Facebook such cruel luck to just miss out so very close to the finish, however what a ride from such a prolific long distance rider who holds many records for these kind of challenges.

Brian completed RAAM outside of official cutoff time...he finished healthy, happy and with an admirable crew with nothing but respect for him and each other.
Official update from facebook. Fantastic effort.
