Thursday Evening TT Series - Event 1 - 19th May

Post by PhilBixby »

As you'll hopefully all be aware from the most recent e-Update, the first event of this year's SPOCO (SPOrting COurse) series is next week.

Firstly, please can we have some volunteers to marshal the first couple of events. We need to ensure these events are run safely and if we don't have adequate marshals by a couple of days prior to events we will cancel them. This may sound harsh and I know when this has been necessary in the past we've had riders saying "Oh well, I'd have helped if I knew it was that desperate..." but, come on folks, we can't run a series like that. Please read the website page at http://www.cliftoncc.org/competition/club-tt-series-1 and note the further information on the requirement to marshal.

Secondly, if you're planning on riding the events, remember that they are open only to current Clifton members and you will need to show your 2011 membership card at signing-on. You will be able to join the club or renew on the night but please bear in mind the organiser has more than enough to do on the night already without processing membership applications, and that if there's a queue of forty riders, you may find yourself and your uncompleted application sent to the back of it...

Having said all that, Enjoy! :D

I have already sent an e mail to say that I will marshal at the first two events, and intend to help any time I am free to do so, like Phil said please don't wait until the event has been cancelled which was quite rightly done last year, if this happens it could mean missing out on reaching the amount of qualifying rides for some people.

Me too happy to help out at 1st SPOCO.

Any job, can do timekeeping if required.

Don't like pushing off though (too invasive of sweaty personal space for me   ) might drop the rider as a result of the sensory overload on my sensitive & trained nasal receptors!

Well done to the Clifton Riders in the 2nd Event of the Club Open Series, results can be seen here:

I could help at the first one. I'd be coming straight from work, so I will be smelly and dirty, so I might be best placed on a corner as far away from everyone as possibe.
I will need to know if I'm needed please, a pm or an email. I have volunteered for the 5th race, but not heard anything.

We sure can use your help, i'll put you in a desolate corner but the problem will be the flies, i'm sure they won't mind the smell though :)

How does it work? I presume we email thursdaytt@etc and that is passed on to the event organiser, then we wait to be contacted. Which is what I've always done.. Trouble is you don't get a reply and you're left wondering if you are needed or not.
