Arthur Metcalf Challenge Series (?) or Club Ride

Post by JohnS »

Last year the Arthur Metcalf ride was included as part of the Clifton Challenge Series and we had a large group of us ride out from York to Easingwold and then take part in the ride.

Any plans to include the event in the Challenge Series this year?

I know Paul and Tim have expressed an interest in riding but anyone else interested in a similar ride out from York this year to take part?

Yes happy to include in Challenge Series as per last year.

To be honest the only reason i didn't include up front was because struggling to find any official info on date at start of year.

I'm not out that weekend, but we've ridden out to it from York for a number of years now. I thought last year's route was the best yet. One of you that has the start details needs to put their hand up and say "I'll meet you all in The Square at such-and-such a time....."

Enjoy.

Was also going to ride out from the sq. so might join you Ian, Howard. However 8am is bit early its not that far to Easingwold is it? Dont wait if not there if you want to get off promptly. Im sure last yr people set off about 0830ish

I'll be at the square at 08:00. Setting off at this time means loads of time for a "sniffing the flowers" gentle pace to Easingwold plus time left over for those of us (me inc.) who haven't pre-entered to do so at the start.

Here's a .tcx of the longest course which I've quickly rattled up from the rather low res. map on the organizer's website. I'm not sure my .tcx is 100% accurate so please use with discretion...

Arthur Metcalfe Ride

Post by bernard turgoose »

Hi I will be doing the ride on Sunday & if anyone wants to have a less energetic ride then please feel free to join in with myself. I will be at the start prior to the 09.30 start so we can see who wants to join our group or join Howards & Ian's group.
