Chain Gang

Post by fatsprinter »

Ok, it's that time of year. The clocks have gone back and Tuesday was greeted with torrential rain - therefore it must be chain gang time. For obvious reasons I'm sure it didn't go ahead Tuesday, but is it on? How many are interested? What format? I'm looking to ride home from Leeds and come down the chain gang route and meet them. Anyone interested?

6.15 start should be ok this time of year as long as it stays bright. Forecast at the moment is good but windy. But met office has been a bit rubbish at forecasting lately so it may change.

I've bunged an email out to everyone on our TLI, BC and LVRC racing email lists with a link to this thread - hopefully you'll see some new faces. Not sure I'll be able to make it next week, but hopefully the week after..

It's the route we set out on yesterday Darren, except you don't turn off the bridge down on to the old A1. Carry on to next T-junction, where turn right, then 1st left, 1st left, 1st left gives you the triangle of roads which gets ridden 1/2/3 times according to taste/daylight, then return same route.

Chain gang route is 29 miles as per the google map route below

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3603944

The time taken in minutes for the respective average speed is as below.

Time> Ave Speed
90 > 20.0
89 > 20.2
87 > 20.6
86 > 20.9
85 > 21.1
84 > 21.4
83 > 21.6
82 > 22.0
81 > 22.2
80 > 22.5
79 > 22.7
78 > 23.1
77 > 23.3
76 > 23.7
75 > 24.0

The ones I've done in the past average about 22/23 mph depending on who turns up and how well the group works cohesively as a group. The secret to a good chain gang is working as a tight group and going through steady but not sprinting through and working together and not as individuals.
