Wednesday afternoon is often a chance for a sly trip for me - noted the SW wind@25mph and decided to reverse my usual Woldwards route and head west instead to avoid the depressing slog back upwind.
Left at 12:30, lovely sunshine, washing on the line, riding down through Cawood, Sherburn to Kippax. Had to ride on the HRM completely as the gusts were disrupting any sense of work or rhythm, but at least it was sunny - until I got under the A1 and it started to rain. Whizzed round the Ledsham nature reserve (where bizarrely hi-viz workmen were gathering brush and lighting bonfires successfully in driving drizzle) and turned back just before the rain got really bad.
Of course I'd taken my summer bike because it all seemed dry, so I splattered my way back, doing 30 in the tailwind, unable to see and getting absolutely soaked in spray. Great fun. Rain stopped just before I got home...
