Saturday Morning early rides......................

Post by Allan »

Whilst on the way to Dumfries last weekend, Gill C and I were discussing getting out more on a saturday with you roady peeps, but the all day sessions of the various group rides doesnt quite fit in with family duties, etc. We concluded that an early start short fast type of ride would fit the bill. I for one have been trying, to some degree of success, to get out around 7.30 - 8 am for 2.5 - 4 hours or so but feel that I would get more benefit riding/training in a group. I have only been out with a saturday group once but really enjoyed it.
Gill did say that there have been similar mutings amongst the tuesday group she rides with and I note some sidetrack discussion in a similar vein within the 'Dr Dave training' thread.
Anybody got any thoughts?

This sort of thing almost got off the ground at the end of June this year - myself, and I think 4-5 others (Broomwagon, photoBen, etc. but I don't really know who these people are as I'm not a club regular) met at Millennium Bridge at 9am and had a brisk-ish 3-ish hour ride. I'm not sure how many more times this took place subsequently but I didn't see anything posted so I guess it just evaporated although there seemed to be a number of other people interested at the time. I'm up for the same again if anyone else is interested. Early start and "training" pace both good.

Over the winter there may be a few weeks when I might prefer a shorter ride on a Saturday - I'd guess that a few of the Saturday regulars would be in a similar position.
