XC racing in Yorkshire

Post by JamesClayden »

I moved up to Malton about 18 months ago and have been doing much more riding that ever and fancied trying some xc racing. I have had no luck in finding any local racing, is there any that i have missed?

As you are about the biggest club in the area that encourages MTB riding do you as a club have any plans to try and start a small XC series? If you do then I will be more than willing to offer help if help is needed.

Hi James,

Unfortunately you will have to travel quite far for xc racing. The closest events are the midlands series which i will be travelling to from york and will usually have space in my car for another bike. There are the brownbacks races regularly over Preston way on, have a look on xcracer.com for info and all the xc events.

James,

The best local racing is the NYMBO League. It's fiercely competitive at the moment, well run and on your doorstep. The League is best 6 of 11 and 4 rounds have already gone so you've still got time to compete.

See http://www.nymbo.org.uk/index.htm for details. Next race is Swaledale 20th June. It's a National event too so it'll be well attended.
