Did the Wiggy 100 Saturday with a good turn out from Clifton members had a very enjoyable ride round, the route took us through Brimham rocks rode with Steve (Broomwagon) all the way round in what was a nice sunny day.

My first Audax!
Wiggy 100 - a great day. Thanks to all. In some kind of panic (those "never done this before" nerves were rife at the start) I didn't find Clifton until the Ripley stop. 5 minutes after setting out with you I punctured! Fortunately I was prepared and with a few extra pair of hands we had it fixed pretty swiftly. I then stuck with the group for the rest of the ride and loved it. Good weather. Good company. Another 60 miles under my belt. I missed Kevin but his words of advice were ringing in head all the way round. Back to the K group soon.
We were a group of three to start off until Ripley Castle then a guy called Richard, who had driven up from just outside London asked if he could join us, of course we said 'Yes'
He then proceeded to finish off a huge sausage sandwich a few other items and a custard tart that was almost as big as the already consumed sausage sandwich. If that had been me I would have 'barfed' at the top of the first climb from Ripley.
That said we progressed on to Ripon where the whole process started again two cream teas and a cheese toasty, just a 'little snack' he said. I have to hand to the guy he could eat.
Fantastic day, great weather and a good turn out.

Met very interesting, heavily panniered (2 X rear, 2 X front, 1 X handlebar) couple of riders who, it turned out were planning to ride to the most northerly, southerly, easterly, westerly and highest points of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Stopped for a chat and was subsequently left behind by AndyM, Robert and sundry others whose names I knew not - but then missing my highly developed navigational skills they took a wrong turning and arrived at Ripon just as I was leaving.
Tailwind home made for high speed return, but nothing like the Hagyard/Broomwagon 2 up time trial train that left us for dead.
Good to see all the Clifton jerseys out, and several faces I recognise from Saturday K rides. Well done to all.

Did my first Sunday run yesterday, a great route, to another place I'd never even heard of before setting off, in good company. Thanks to everyone, especially Helen who took the 'long' way round York with me so I could creep past my intended target of 100 miles for the day.
Hopefully won't be long before I get out on a Sunday again.

Oh! and I nearly forgot Alistair and is wife who were going around steady but still mangaed to catch us up. A very pleasant day in good company.
Hope to be out again Saturday but as is always the case I wont know until Friday Afternoon if that is the case because of work. Ive done well this year so far getting out of working Saturday Mornings which believe me is some achievement when you have a Family business and thankfully a couple of understanding brothers.

Did a very pleasant ride from the top of Boltby bank to Osmotherley YHA with my wife Rachel (with Laura our youngest on a seat behind her) and the Girls on Saturday. With me returning later to fetch the car. I think the total distance is in the region of 9 miles. The girls loved the ride with lovely views and the reward of an ice cream from the general stores in Osmotherley at the end. With being Amelia's (6yrs) first real off-road adventure, she could have done with wider tyres for more shock absorbancy. Though after the rougher terrain she was much more confident going down the hill into the village. The earlier rocky downhill section probably made the road decent seem much easier than normal.

Had a great weekend up in the Lake District and managed to get in 85- 90% of the Fred whitton route with Steph, albeit from our campsite and not the start point in Coniston. Started with Whinlatter pass straight out the front gate of the camp site before taking in 9 passes in all, including the notorious Hardknott and Wrynose passes before we climbed the Kirkstone pass on our way home. 80 mile, 8500ft in total in a little over 5 hours, great day, great weather and fab company

Wish I was doing the real one this Sunday
maybe next year, anyway back to the intermediate group for me this weekend, good luck to those from the club that are competing in this at the weekend.
