Well.... say we average 17.000 mph, we set off at 10:15 and we allow 1.5 hrs for cafe and mehanicals (how are your Hollowtech 2 cranks nowadays?) then that gives us an arrival back into York time of approx. 18:00.
Hope the above is OK for you and that you can make the ride.
My cranks are p155ing me off, the left one develops a constant click at a certain part of the rotation now and again and a new chainset never solved it and new BB, so when it happens removing the left side crank arm and re applying it helps, so tomoz I bring the bearing pre load thingy and alan keys with me incase it happens again it'll need ot be sorted if possible, wont take 5 mins like.
Will, I've assembled a few hollowtech 2 cranks. I like the system, better than some others I could mention...You only need a smidgen of preload on the bearings (you're really only taking up slack) hence the small diameter of the shimano special tool. After doing this (and setting the plastic safety tab correctly in place) the 2 pinch bolts on the LH crank should be evenly "walked" up to 10-14Nm IIRC. Bring it to me one evening if you're still having problems-I have the tools! But I don't take them out on rides - well not the torque wrenches anyway!
Allthough if it does click on a ride can we stop and fix it? It'll only take 5 mins or less BB cups dont need touching. Should be fine apart from that.
Sure we'll stop if you have a problem with it. And we shall attempt to fix it. I'm not going to abandon you in the middle of nowhere with a dodgy crank! I shall make it my business to ensure that you get safely and enjoyably round the entire route, ideally under your own steam!
It cant be the pedal/cleat as I got new pedals on some time ago and the clicking never went away, also trying my old SPD pedals the clicking was still there.
