HELP! My Doctor has Diagnosed me With 'Shin Splints'
I have been absent from club rides now for over four months owing to severe pain in my left calf and shin. My doctor has advised me that I have Shin Splints and has suggested that I may wish to look at the position of my cleats and general riding position. Is there anyone out there who can advise me on this matter? I am willing to pay someone to physically check my cleats and general bike set-up to ensure that I avoid this serious issue which is preventing me from getting the miles in. I tend to find that the pain really kicks-in after 50 miles or so.

A few suggestions:
Cycle Heaven use the bikefitting system but I think this is more to do with frame sizing rather than riding position.
Boneshakers in Harrogate offer Specialized Body Geometry fitting (have a look at their website or Specialized) and they sell insoles and wedges that alter feet position.
RaceScene in Barnsley have a Basso fitting jig (have used this myself to size a TT bike).
Further afield Cyclefit in London are very well regarded and there are other specialists in London like Bespoke Cycles.
Hope you get sorted out and are back riding soon.
