I have around £300 to spend in leisure lakes bikes. Was thinking of a gps unit, are they worth it and if o which one.

Thanks

There is only one to get, a Garmin Edge.

When you know how it works, please can you let me know!

My dad has one and it looks great.

for map navigation any HTC/XDA unit should be fine.
The software you want is memory maps

This will get you a moving OS map and track routes, profiles etc etc.

I don't quite get the 605 when the 705 isn't that much more. The 605 can't be used for heart rate, cadence sensor etc. You might not use either of these but one day you might want to and when you're paying that sort of money £40 more for a 705 is nothing IMO

Nick,

My point was about the Edge and its unuser friendly nature, not the 605 specificaly.

However the 605 is the one for me as I have no interest in hart rate and cadence.

Otherwize, I agree with what you say about the 705 been the better choice.
