Hi David,
As I said I've no real experience with Focus bikes but they do always seem to get good write ups.
The details look OK but I'd be nervous about choosing disc brakes that aren't from the big brands (Avid, Hope, Shimano, Hayes). They may be an unknown quantity and you may struggle to get pads in an emergency (I'm always wearing mine out when I'm least prepared). At least most shops you go in stock spares for the big brands. Try and see who stocks spare pads from the shops around York as a guide.

Hi Dave,
Paul's advise is sound, I would add its always worth shopping around.
For example, I was in Cycle Scene the other day and noticed a Diamondback Apex down from £700 down to £550 offering better spec than the Focus you were looking at.
Deals are there to be had so why not go and haggle at one of our local independant bike shops.
