Fascinating article in Saturday Guardian - and on their website at http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2008/no ... rs-extract - on the subject of "Genius". Reason for posting the link here is that it rings lots of bells with the descriptions of Hoy and the other British track sprinters in Heroes, Villains & Velodromes.

The idea put across in both is that while some people clearly have a talent for something, what makes them truly great is that their talent includes an ability, in fact a hunger, to work hard at it - to put in the hours, to push themselves. The suggestion is that greatness is part ability, but largely ability to - in fact need to - work/practice/train hard.

No specific training tips, but an interesting read, and relevant to sport. 10,000 hours, anyone? (You'll have to read the article to get to the relevance of this!)
