As you may be aware from my press report in The Scarborough News today, please note the dates of this year's Festival - hope you can support it and/or offer your help. Paragon are promoting a time trial and Malton Wheelers the road racing in conjunction with British Cycling.

Scarborough Paragon is promoting a 10 miles open time trial at Burton Fleming, as part of the Festival programme and Yorkshire Cycling Federation Sporting Course Points Series, so plenty of reasons for riders to compete. Closing date 20th August, details in CTT handbook. Surrounding this event, there are various other cycling activities to suit everyone, with the Hairy Bob’s Skate Park committee holding a social evening at The Spa pub on Victoria Road on the Friday evening with live music and spin bike competitions. Their 4th Jamiversary at the Hair Bobs Skate Park on Royal Albert Drive is to be held on the Sunday. At Olivers Mount on Saturday there will be plenty of action in the Come & Try Grass Track events for children from 11am (where riders just bring their own bike and helmet) followed by the Open Grass Track meet in the afternoon from 1pm, organised by the West Riding Track league. On Sunday there will be a full programme of Circuit Road Racing for all categories on the hilly closed roads, promoted by British Cycling and Malton Wheelers. A new addition for this year will be the fun aspect of trying out children or adults’ KMX Kart Racing on grass. There is a small charge for the Come & Try Grass Track and Karts (approx £2). Entry details for the Burton Fleming time trial and Olivers Mount Road Racing are shown on the Festival website www.scarboroughfestivalofcycling.co.uk or the relevant Cycling Time Trials, Scarborough Paragon, British Cycling websites plus Facebook. Camping accommodation is also available at Olivers Mount for the weekend to create a festival and family atmosphere.
