Dear Club Secretary,

Having your own performance coach is a great way of boosting your membership – and the arrival of the Tour de France this summer gives you a wonderful opportunity to get one. The Tour will inspire your members to improve their performance levels – a qualified coach can make all the difference.

The ABCC brings quality coaching to all cycling clubs, particularly riders new to our sport by educating coaches who can pass on their knowledge. We have a proven track record in the field of coach education and the Association has provided coaching to all disciplines of cycle sport for nearly 40 years. It has qualified 1500 coaches, many of whom have coached theUK’s top riders.

The method used to educate prospective coaches is Distance Learning (Correspondence)which consists of six modules, and six multi-choice questionnaires that assures that the knowledge has been picked up. Recruits are then mentored through writing a full training programme and a presentation. This is very convenient for busy people as it can virtually all be done at home and should appeal to some of your experienced riders / officials keen to improve the performance of your members. Attached is a copy of our prospectus which describes more fully what the course is about.

As a club you probably have suitable candidates amongst your members and possibly are able to assist with the financing of this (perhaps by agreeing to pay for it when they qualify). Our qualified coaches receive full insurance cover, regular copies of our magazine Cycle Coaching (see our website www.abcc.co.uk for extracts and articles that have been previously published), and the opportunity to attend our annual conference at which we’ve had Chris Boardman, Peter Keen, Sean Yates, Magnus Backstedt, Roger Hammond, and many other top class riders as speakers.

If you would like more information then please contact me at the above address or by e-mail. Alternatively you can send me the enclosed application form.
