Dear Clifton CC York,

This is the time of the year when we all start thinking (if not actually doing) about getting some miles in and perhaps thinking about planning some cycling events for 2011. During a freezing club run I keep my self going with thoughts of sweating up sun baked French tarmac and drinking cold beers after a doing a few cols.

If that sounds appealing then how about going to see the Tour de France and riding the same mountains as the pros this year with Hors Categorie Tours?

We have self-catering chalets in the Alps and Pyrenees that are ideal for a group of friends or club mates to base themselves for up to a week. Ride classic climbs like Alpe d’Huez, Galibier, Luz Ardiden, Tourmalet, Aubisque.

We offer led rides each day on the best roads, via the best cafes and top tips on where best to spectate when to the Tour comes through.

Prices vary depending on the size of your group, but start from around £300 per week per person. We can offer special deals for cycling clubs who fancy a club holiday.

Why Hors Categorie Tours

We've been going to see the Tour de France since 2000. The 1st stage we saw was on Ventoux, when Armstrong gifted the stage to an ungrateful Pantani ... we were hooked.

We used to arrange trips, to do L'Etape du Tour and/or spectate for our mates and they said that the way we did it was so good that we should set up a business - so we did.

We book chalets close to the best stages, with ideas for the great rides nearby and guided rides too if you fancy it ... good riding and eating and not to much fuss.
