Dear Cycle Club,

My name in Pete Corson and a few years ago I set up a mountain biking
holiday company called Trailbrakes, based in the south west corner of
Scotland, right in the heart of the 7Stanes network of mountain biking trail
centres. We specialise in providing unique, tailor made mountain biking
holidays spanning the length and breadth of the country and also trips that
explore Morocco.

As a company we are always trying to offer something totally different and
exciting but also looking to operate in a sustainable and worthwhile way. As
such over the last year we have developed a stunning new 500 mile charity
bike ride that doesn’t involve travelling to the other side of the world to
participate in. We’re running the very first 500 miles event later this year
and we are hoping that you can perhaps pass the details on to those members
of your club that may be interested. We’ve recently teamed up with an
inspirational new charity (also called 500 miles) to offer participants the
unique opportunity to take part in the longest continuous mountain biking
adventure in Scotland, from the south west corner all the way to Inverness,
via Edinburgh and Glasgow. The route is about 80% off road, taking in some
of the most amazing, unspoilt scenery and beautiful cities in Scotland and
will be a real test of fitness and stamina, with the 500 miles to be
completed in just 9 days! All we ask is that participants collect
sponsorship money of no less than £1000, with all profits going to the 500
miles charity which provides treatment and prosthetics for people in Africa
who have lost limbs through disease and poverty.

The trip will be led by one of our SMBLA qualified, first aid trained guides
who will provide technical (and moral!) support from start to finish, and
you’ll also have constant back-up from our support vehicle which will be
contactable at every stage of our journey. On top of that we can provide
transfers to the beginning of the trip in Portpatrick, south west Scotland
from the local train or bus station, ferry terminal or airport,
accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis and baggage transfers between our
accommodation every day. The dates for this epic adventure for 2009 are from
the 6th to the 16th of August, but if there is a group of 4 or more people
who want to take part in the trip, we can try and accommodate you at any
time of the year.

Here is an opportunity to have an unforgettable experience on the saddle,
and at the same time make a real difference to many people’s lives, so
please, please have a think about it and pass on the details to fellow club
members. If you’ve got any questions or queries at all then don’t hesitate
to contact me. Our spaces on the trip are limited so if you’ like to get
involved contact us as soon as possible, we’d love to have you on board!

Thanks for your time.

Kind regards,

Pete and the Trailbrakes team

Pete Corson
