Introducing the HairyCooMountainBike Challenge

Can this year better last year? With wonderful weather for an inaugural event, last years’ Hairy Coo was fantastic, and met with great response from the participants, though some agreed it was a challenge! This year, with a few extensions planned for the course, more for the spectators and the barn dance in the evening, this years’ Hairy Coo Mountain Bike Challenge promises even more. Make a weekend of it with your Club a special deal with Comrie Croft accommodation too. It all takes place on Saturday 18th October.

Now into its second year, the ‘Hairy Coo Mountain Bike Challenge’ is a fun multi-lap mountain bike race, which will be run over a testing course at Comrie Croft’s newly established mountain bike centre in West Perthshire.

The family-friendly day will offer a competitive race for varying abilities over our challenging 5 km course; taking in old drove roads, purpose built single-track and exciting downhill, with a backdrop of some spectacular Scottish scenery. This will be complimented throughout the day with activities such as live music, spit roast, bike demos etc for the spectators. This year also sees the ‘coo run alongside Comrie Croft’s popular annual evening barn dance, to which competitors are invited to jig away those weary legs.

Anyone getting their entries in before the 31st May is eligible for the special ‘Early Coo’ offer, which entitles you to 5% off of the cost of the race. Just quote reference HC01 when you fill in the on-line entry form.

The Crieff & Strathearn Drovers’ Tryst

The Hairy Coo is part of the Crieff & Strathearn Drovers’ Tryst. The Tryst has developed in the last couple of years from a fairly local community event which offers primarily walks, to one which embraces other outdoor activities, and has a far greater reach in terms of participation and publicity. It has always had a family-friendly, informal approach which we hope would encourage more people to ‘take to the hills’. The full walking programme is available on-line, and social events & other activities are being added daily. If you wish a programme in print, please email us and we will get one to you shortly.

Whilst we appreciate that Crieff is not on your doorstep, many of your customers or club members may well be interested, and we would be grateful if you would consider printing and displaying Hairy Coo poster or leaflets. We have hard copies of the poster and flyers which we can send you – just email back with your address details and I’ll pop them in the post, or we can email you a pdf of the poster.

The Hairy Coo Mountain Bike organiser, Colin McPhail, can be contacted by email on colin@comriecroft.com or on 07933 781133 should you have any other queries.
