The Sunday crew got by far the better deal with the weather, though there was still a cold biting Westerly over the high ground. There were 9 of us for the first couple of hours, though 3 had planned an early bath.

Rosedale Moor, Rosedale Head. There's a Bike Hub on the hill between Little Fryup Dale and Great Fryup Dale. Their cakes are fantastic and with breakfasts called Great and Little Fryup, everyone's a winner.

The climb out of the dale onto Glaisedale Rigg was a new one for us all, then we headed for home via Cropton and Castle Howard. This was a long ride for the conditions, and we went a bit quiet in the last hour as everyone started to feel the fatigue. But we looked after each other and all rode in together. Thanks to Steen, Andy, Andrew, Pete and Rebecca for 155km of company.

We have a yen to ride to Hornsea Mere next week. Watch this space.

Saturday K ride was a mix of Inters & K riders with Craig B Pete Smith, Claire & I, being the only ones out, probably more being put off because of the forecast. But the rain managed to stop mostly anyway after we left the square, and some of us felt a tad too warm at times so a safety first route to safe us from riding home into the wind took us to Birkin and the fisheries cafe via Wighill, Boston Spa, Clifford, Bramham, Aberford then following line of the old Great North road until just before Selby Fork and then a fast descent off the ridge to Monk Fryston etc. The ride home gave us some fast riding with the mostly tail wind with over 20 miles done in just over the hour. We did see some sunshine however briefly and stayed mainly dry all day, so for those who didn’t fell like getting out, it sometimes doesn’t always work out like the forecast!
