Some explanations:

Same philosophy as usual. A different sort of challenge to racing. Stretch yourself in a different way. Ride as a team, explore some new roads and vistas. Avoid big entry fees and bags of tat. Hopefully this list will inspire. There are other rides too that the Sat crews have devised, or Bernard is recommending from AUK.

Sun 4th March, “Beyond Here There Be Dragons – South”, 180km
The first of our rides to the furthest points in Yorkshire on the 4 compass points. The first should be the easiest, to the little known village near Doncaster called Harthill.

Sun 18th March, “B’stard Banks”, 150km
A gratuitous climbing fest on the Hambleton Hills escarpment.

Sun 8th April, “Pateleigh Spider”, TBC
This one still needs some more thought. 8 climbs out of Pateleigh, turning around at the top of each. Wondering about riding out on Sat evening and finding somewhere to kip first. Or maybe car assist…. Watch this space.

Sun 28th April, “Moor Gravel Forever”, 160km
Gravel based Audax out of Kirby Wiske. Heads up into the Moors.

Sun 20th May, “Beyond Here There Be Dragons, East”, 250km
Spurn Head

Sun 3rd June, “Moors and Dales”, TBC
Two national parks in one ride.

17th June, “Scotton 150”, 150km
Off road around Ripon, like the Scotton 100, but start from the Square, and we’re not riding for a “time”.

Sun 1st July, “Beyond Here There Be Dragons, West”, 280km
Dunsop Bridge in Slaidburn Forest. Plans still embryonic. Thinking of starting at midnight. Could be the ride of the year.

Sun 8th Sept, “Beyond Here There Be Dragons, North”, 220km
High Force in Teesdale.

Sun 30th Sept, “The Dirty Clubrun”, 100km
Start in York, as many bridle paths as we can find.

14th Oct, Hostel Weekend.
Plans TBC.
