Yesterday's A-ride was a complete disaster and it's becoming increasingly obvious that we've lost the plot, namely: http://www.cliftoncc.org/road_riding/social

Of the 8 riders that left the square, half were dropped, abandoned and left for dead, most before the York ring-road, as the Wednesday Thrashers seemingly attempted to reprise their SPOCO performances, albeit over 10x the distance :shock:

Nonetheless, those of us that chose not to partake in the TT enjoyed a great day out, covering 130+Km at a hair under the listed A-ride pace. JG deserves an honorable mention having ridden most of the planned A-ride ~160Km route solo, before finding us at Coneysthorpe on the return leg.

Hopefully, we can get back to sensible social group-rides. Multiple pace groups is fine, but we need to agree on a no-drop strategy, and at least confirm that anyone turning back is OK and in a condition to make it home solo, or assisted as the case may be.

The sun's supposed to be coming out and potentially warmer temperatures abound. We have not one, but TWO options for your riding pleasure this weekend;

First up, James has planned a veritable sufferfest of hills for those wishing to test their climbing legs ahead of the Alps trip.

Plan is to meet at 10am at St George's Square, Bridge Gate, Hebden Bridge. Enter the "HX7 8EX" postcode into your GPS.

The route takes in Trooper Lane and the infamous Shibden Wall before coming back through Sowerby Bridge, up Cragg Vale and looping back through Hebden Bridge for lunch. For dessert, you'll be riding up the picturesque cobbles of Haworth, taking a quick jaunt over the moors to stunning Lancashire and finally looping back to Hebden Bridge and up Mytholm Steeps.

113Km / 70 miles square to square, and 2,700m of vertical delight, so bring your climbing legs and a spare set :P

For those on a tight schedule or still developing their climbing legs, we have the option of a trip to the seaside.

Meet at 10am in Exhibition Square, York as usual.

162Km / 101 miles square to square, plus a few lumps here and there :P
