Steeped in Clifton History this. Used to be ridden as a private Time Trial, where the Racing Sec timed you off and back in again at the end of the day. This was back in the middle of last century when roads were a little different. The course was along the A59, up the A1, across the A66 to Brough, then back over Tan Hill, Buttertubs, Fleets Moss, Fan Carl and home. Keith Barker still holds the record of 9 hours and 21 minutes.

Fast forward to about 12 years ago, and we resurrected it as a challenge clubrun. We use the lanes to avoid the trunk roads and come over the Stang before Tan Hill. A few less kilometres, a few more metres of ascent.

Want to try it the other way round this year as the climbs have a totally different character going north.

265 km. 0700 departure, 2 stop strategy (Hawes and Richmond). Back sometime between 1800 and 2000.

Bring all the usual, plus, just in case, a couple of LEDs

Will be grand day out.
