OK, so here's the Sunday gang contribution to the series. Bernard is currently compiling these along with other events into a definitive list. Thought I'd just post here with a brief explanation of each ride, so you can plan your bid for honours.... If you're new to the club, the idea is simply to amass points through the year to earn Gold, Silver or Bronze award. Bernard will set the grade boundaries when he has the full list... All these are ridden as a group, Sunday pace, looking after each other.
26th March, Thixendale Spirograph, 150k, 2points.
We've done this a few times now. The aim is to climb all 6 ascents out of Thixendale without making a U-turn. A big day out so early in the spring.
23rd April, Illegitimate Banks, 160k, 2points
'Scuse the alliteration. Up and down every steep hill on the Moors escarpment between Boltby and Hambleton Banks...
7th May, Yorkshire Alps Clockwise, 280k, 4points
Never been clockwise before. Greenhow, Fleets Moss, Buttertubs, Tan Hill, The Stang and back home through Richmond, Bedale etc.
11th June, Eskdale Eskapade, 220k, 3points
I came up with the name first and designed the ride to fit it. There's some gnarly roads out there for some gnarly legs...
25th June, Hornsea Mere, 220k, 2points
This year's long flat one. Don't expect a direct route.
2nd July, Scotton 150, 150k, 1points
A lot easier than the shorter version run off as a sportif. Clubrun pace with a cafe stop!
16th July, Fly's Eyes, 220k, 3points
Buttertubs, Askrigg Common, The Fleak and Greets Moss
27th Aug, Tan Hill, 225k, 3points
Traditional Clifton rendez-vous. Leyburn - Buttertubs - Tan Hill - Grinton Moor - Leyburn and home
10th Sept, The Dirty Clubrun, 100k, 1points
100km ride from York, taking in as many tracks and bridlepaths as we can. We usually end up around Millington and Thixendale. Exact route this year tbc.
17th Sept, Circuit of the Moors, 210k, 2points
As the title suggests, a tough ride this one, skirting the edge of the North York Moors National Park, all the way around.
8th Oct, Back from Berwick YH Weekend , 340k, 4points
Depart Berwick railway station at 10am on the Saturday morning and ride home. Over night at Twice Brewed Youth Hostel on Hadrians Wall.
The above reads like a pizza menu doesn't it? Should be a good year though eh?
