Nine at the square for the last Inters ride of 2016: Dave C, Ian H, Graham, Jon G, Rob M, Kev M, John B, Steen on a sabbatical from the Sunday crew and self.
Usual route to Galley Gap and thence Langton and across to Settrington bank. Ian, John, Graham and Jon turned for home via Malton, the remains went over the top and onwards to Ebberston and the steady climb up to Dalby Forest.
The track at the top was slightly sticky but no more than this and we were soon back on tarmac for the swooping decent to Dalby.
The south-westerly wind had got up a bit by now making progress a bit harder than expected but soon we arrived at Balderstone's in Thornton-le-Dale for a leisurely lunch.
On the way back the wind was still impeding rapid progress but with Rob leading the way we were soon at Amotherby Lane. Dave's legs were starting to feel the impact of the previous day's racketball session so he suggested the rest of us forge on. With Rob on the front taking the wind we had a good steady ride back home - I was home at 4.30 with a good solid 84 miles to round off the year.

Getting snapped up quick

5 riders (Bernard, PeteS, MarkB, Nick and self) on what we'll call the the "B" Ride to Knaresborough. That's "B for Bernard" and not an indication as to the quality of the ride or riders.

Pete and Bernard led most of the way out and we had the rarity of reaching the cafe stop before midday, choosing the Marigold on the riverside. As usual, we managed to upset the staff by placing our orders against one table but then moving to a larger table when that became available. No real harm done, we just about retrieved the situation and almost got a smile.

Must have been something in his spicy sardines, as Bernard suggested we extend the ride in the afternoon and return via Wetherby rather than taking the direct route home. True to form, Bernard showed us a few hidden lanes that we don't normally ride on. We bumped into Alison at the temporary bridge in Tadcaster and, on her home turf, she set a good pace back to York via Bolton Percy and Acaster Malbis.

About 60 miles in very favourable conditions, we were back in York before 3:30pm.
