Cam Brooks and David Short put a heck of a lot of effort into getting the Thursday Evening Time Trial Series, the Clifton Road Race Day and the N.Y.E.R.L.L. Evening events organised, approved and signed-off and yet they constantly have to resort to sending out begging posts and E-mails in order to get sufficient cover to enable these events to go ahead.

At the recent Tour de Yorkshire, it was difficult to find a piece of media footage which didn't have a Clifton C. C. jersey on show. So it would appear that the majority of us are actually capable of travelling to the furthest outposts of the Yorkshire border in order to watch a cycle race come past. So why not do it locally and help out at Club events? It's literally two or three hours of one Sunday morning/afternoon or a Thursday evening.

At the Race Day and N.Y.E.R.L.L. events you get to see some live racing, a voucher for YourBikeShed cafe in York, oh and a fluorescent vest and a big sign with which to stop the traffic.

Don't worry if you’ve never tried marshalling before, these events are both run under the jurisdiction of a registered traffic management team who instruct you in exactly what is required.

The Club members who competed in the recent Fred Whitton Event made a point of mentioning how fantastic it was that a local Club had taken the time to setup a drinks station at a key part of the route where an official station was lacking. Let’s follow that example and give something back to our Club and cycling community.

There are already a number of people in the Club who regularly give up their time to organise races, plan and lead social/ training rides, coach juniors to great success and send out regular correspondence to members. Just think if these people stopped doing this and your weekend ride was cancelled, you couldn't race, your kids weren’t coached or you had to source event information for yourself.

So please help Cam, David and your Club out by visiting the page on the Club Website http://www.cliftoncc.org/competition/club-tt-series-1 or the thread http://discussion.cliftoncc.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6981 on the Club Discussion Board and give up a couple of hours of your time to ensure these events go ahead.
