Yes the day had come , 9 months ago when we signed up for the event it seemed a long way off but here we were at the start of what was going to be an absolute epic ride . Fin , Jenny, John , Matt , Dave and myself lined up at the start in seascale , the time 7.10 am . the sun was beating down on us out of a blue sky, we were ready for off. It wasn/t long before we hit hardknott and wrynose pass both in quick succession , steep climbs and descents at this point, then across iconic cumbrian countryside ,Matt at this point had some serious mechanical problems and had to buy a set of wheels luckily Stu assisted Matt, and we carried on across the rolling Yorkshire dales skirting around Leyburn. The feed stations were becoming increasingly busy with riders at ever stop :D .The last stage was across to Catterick and moorland, pleny of long climbs at this point , but we were getting closer to the finish with every heart pumping turn of the crank .We could now see the sign for Whitby on the outskirts , by now the adrenalin had kicked in and flicked the turbo boosters on to the finish. What a great day everyone through safe and sound including Matt who pushed on through with his usual grit and determination .Now for a cold beer and some fish and chips .Many thanks to Jenny for organising accommadation and superb transport, supplied by a guy called Simon, also Stu who performed heroics in the mechanical and motivation department, I'm sure Matt owe's you one. Great day , mates and of course weather.
Total miles 150 'accent a shade under 4000mtrs.
