Reproduced from latest Cliftonite (currently in the presses):

22nd April sees the second running of the 3 Bridges 158km Audax Event

Starting and ending in Stamford Bridge the route takes us out over the Humber Bridge and back across the Boothferry Bridge at Goole via bridge no. 2 over the river Trent.

Who can ride? Absolutely anyone. All ages and abilities. There is a time limit (with a minimum speed of 15kph) but its not a race! Each rider will be given a card to carry round on the day. We collect stamps along the way at two friendly cafes and write down the answer to a question at the half way point. And thats all there is to it - other than cycling nearly 100 miles! If you can manage a couple of long rides in the run up to the event, all the better, but its fair to say you won't find a flatter ride on our runs list and if you are comfortable on a Saturday ride this is a great "next step". Its also a good test for anyone considering moving up to harder challenges later in the season.

Last year everyone found someone going at their pace if they fancied some company. A mix of riders from Clifton CC - some from the Sat rides, others Sunday regulars or racing members - rode round as a group. The going was steady and everyone looked after each other. If you fancy going a bit quicker stick near the front and i am sure you will find someone to push on with. Ditto if you just want to take your time and admire the view - the ride over the Humber bridge is something special.

The main thing is: don't miss this event. You know you want to be part of it. This is the perfect opportunity to go for a hundred miles in a day - whether its for the first time this year or the first time ever! Its also a great chance to meet cyclists from other parts of the country as well as catch up with other Clifton riders. Dont hesitate SEND IN YOUR ENTRY NOW!
