Many of you will have heard about this from other sources but for those who haven't - there are proposed changes to the Highway Code at consultation stage at present. Info at www.dsa.gov.uk/highwaycode . Included within proposals are changes to references to cycle-specific facilities on and adjacent to roads. The CTC has spotted that the changes could make cyclists more vulnerable in respect of liability in the event of accidents and are campaigning against the changes - info at http://www.ctc.org.uk/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabID=4303 .

If you want to comment on it you can email via the DSA website or fire off a letter - contact details are given.

The excellent Matt Seaton has done an article on this - and on the broader folly of daft cycle lanes - on the Guardian website (and presumably in the paper version too) at http://www.guardian.co.uk/transport/Sto ... 08,00.html
