Short ride Sat 15th Nov 10am

I have a couple of cycling friends coming to see me on Saturday. Both have never cycled around York and want a ride out to the Wolds but need to get off in the afternoon. I will ride out with them to the Wolds. Route dependent on the the weather but it will be about 50 miles. I am meeting them at ...

Re: Weekend roundup 09/11/14

I was on the Wirral this weekend so I sent an email to my friend at Port Sunlight Wheelers and joined their 9.30 ride from the historic Eureka Cafe at Two Mills, 6 miles north of Chester. 50 miles around the lanes of Cheshire later I was back in Eureka for lunch. About 20 riders in the group and ...

Re: Cliftonite Magazine

Darren,

Sad news but very well done on the past two Cliftonite's. They were superb and provided ready and inspiration for all of our riding in 2014.

I have an article on my experiences in Yorkshire for the TdF. If these articles are to go onto the website I wonder if it could be thought about that ...

Re: Weekend roundup 9th/10th

Like Jon I did the Prudential Ride London Surrey Ftang Ftang Ole Biscuit barrel 100....86! on Sunday. Having done the ride last year I went for a train down on Saturday and back straight after. It worked a treat. I left York at 7.57 and was in London for 9.45. I cycled across London and was ...

Re: First stage (Leeds -> Harrogate) of the TDF

Hi Craig,

Apologies if I'm too late with this post. I rode the route a number of times in preparation for my ride and didn't have any real problems. It may be just worthwhile highlighting the busy sections to the group.

If everyone keeps their eyes and ears open there shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Tour De Yorkshire - Where were you?

As most people know I rode stage 1 on the Saturday. Tremendous experience ranging from empty roads coming out of Harewood House at 4am to the relief of getting through the crowds to Leyburn. From there onwards it was just 15 grown men giggling. Having ridden on these roads more times than I can ...

What a ride, what a weekend. Thanks Cliftonites

Hi All,

Just a brief posting to thank everyone those Clifton members I saw, and those I missed, whilst riding in the Power Peloton for Marie Curie Cancer Care on Stage 1 of the Tour de France on Saturday.

Your support really helped, and after a 2.50am alarm call and 4am start, in rain bouncing off ...

£19,000 reached. Now just the ride to do!

Hi Everyone. I hit my target to raise £19,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care on 1st July. Thank you to all Clifton Members for such superb support. I have a final fundraiser at Ye Old Sun Inn Colton tonight to celebrate. The activities will make the TdF Opening Ceremony look like a school disco! The ...

I can see the promised land but I may not get there with you

Final post before the big ride on Saturday 5th July. I head of to Bulgaria for a bit of R&R in prep this weekend. A massive thanks to all those that have supported me with words of good luck and sponsorship. 15 weeks ago I was given a target of £19,000 to raise for Marie Curie Cancer Care to fund a ...

A pause for breath....not there yet

Hi All,

Just an update on my fundraising efforts whilst I have a chance to catch my breath.

For those of you (who still...) don't know, I am riding Stage 1 of the Tour de France, with 14 other riders, only hours ahead of the professional riders. Closed roads, motorcycle escort, support vehicles ...

Re: Fete du Tour - BBC Radio York at Your Bike Shed

Just to back up Phil's plea for Clifton members to get along to Your Bike Shed tomorrow (Friday) from 1pm. It is going to be a great day and the kick start to the festivities for the Tour. We really do need Clifton CC there in numbers. Your Bike Shed are also doing a number of events in the lead up ...

Re: Weekend Roundup 10th/11th

With May only in its first flush of youth I met Steen on Thursday for my second tour of the year. This tour was to a Grand Tour. We loaded the van with bikes and drove up to Cairnryan port, parked it up, and wheeled the bikes aboard the ferry. A date with destiny, the Giro d'Italia Big Start in ...
