Just flicking through the BC website and had a look at the 3 Peaks report. Maximum kudos to Andrew and Neil for getting around and actually finishing! You are obviously quite mad though.

Tockwith Race 2

A fortnight ago there were plenty of places available on the line, and you may even get my number tonight as I have dislocated my thumb!

If anyone's thinking whether to give it a go or not I'd heartily recommend getting along . If you can more or less keep up on a training ride, or even a H ...

"The pace was high but manageable"!!!

Not for me it wasn't - but that's probably more due to a lack of preparation. Got spat out the back after about 8 laps, rode around for another 3 or 4 until I got lapped and limped off! Well done to Tim, Phil and Ben for keeping with it, I'm sure I saw Tim up ...

Think there are 9 Clifton riders on the start sheet. Max field of 60 I think, with 48 or 49 for June 2nd, so there are at least 10 entry on the line places up for grabs if anyone else is interested.

They are all critical, if they weren't they wouldn't be there!

What sort of wheels are they? How many spokes? How loose is it?
If you do get hold of a spoke key don't simply tighten the single spoke right up as you'll probably pull the rim over. Trueing a wheel is an art it takes mechanics lots of ...

Well done Ben - another cherry popped!

I'm ill (again), so contented myself with heading to Lincoln to cheer Kit on in the GP. 11 laps up Michaelgate soon sorts out the men from the boys (actually just 1 lap does that). For once Russell Downing didn't win, honours to Newton instead. Kit rode hard ...

Well after years or pestering from Kit and having been shamed by Rich 'having a go' at Croft last year, I took the plunge this year and sorted a racing licence. I had good intentions of getting fit over winter and spring, but due to baby stuff and illness (and loads of other excuses) finally found ...

OK Will, present us with an interesting route to the Peak District avoiding main roads and the larger towns which actually goes somewhere i.e. not just over the Peak District Natl Park boundary, and I'm sure that one sunday in summer the club will be able to fit it in as a club ride.

The trouble is ...

The 'natural split' rallied after Tad and were closing back in until the road started to go up again (curse those bridges!) and we (Cath, Rich and I) sat up. Cut the corner to return to York via Colton bridge and Askham B.
I will certainly endeavour to get out again on saturday, only way to get ...

Yeah, cheers Pete, we did make it round fine. Having ridden straight up the hill in Coxwold I just didn't fancy turning round and going back down, so opted for the longer Kilburn route to Byland. Thanks to the organisers for a good day out.

It started inauspiciously when I met Rich to ride to the ...

Go to your local bike shop, speak to the mechanics and they will be able to discuss different rim/spoke combinations to build a bombproof pair of wheels to suit. Price will obviously depend on your specifications, but should be reasonably competitive. Tell them that if they break after all that, you ...

Bernard, I put the route into Memory Map which churned it out as 108km, not 120. It was only our "detour" and the return ride from York that gave us 100 miles for the day.

Well done for not getting sucked into the race though!

I'll concur with all the above with regard to the speed, it often felt more like a race than a supposedly restrained Audax. I gues that's what happens when you let the road racers set the pace!

Was happily sitting in the wheels and staying in touch until the top of Nunnington, when I realised Rich ...

Since we're at it, here's my WRC story...

Having enjoyed the Ron Kit I decided I'd give the WRC a go, so opted for the middle distance route having never ridden a sportive before. I've seen the growth of these events and read about them in the comic on a number of occasions , so decided it'd be ok ...
