Last tuesday I went in for the carpel tunnel release surgery. As Dr Whitaker made the first incision with his scalpel into my palm, he asked me how the condition was affecting my daily life. I told him that it affected my cycling.

Only 4 takers for the 0845 ride this week, led once again by Tony G. We all enjoyed the route out towards Poole and the tailwind on the way back made for a speedy ride. 62 miles non stop and back for 12.30.

8 left the square at 9am for the 8.45 ride. We picked up one extra at Gally Gap from where we headed to Settrington Bank and made our way across, via Duggleby, to Birdsall Bank where at the top one of the group nipped off to Thixendale. Back through Leavening, a second visit to Gally Gap and then ...

4 in the square for the 8.45 ride that was postponed until 9. Tony G led us on a fine route through Kirkham, up Birdsall, into Thix and around Milly Pastures. 58 miles with 2200ft of climbing and back for 12.30. I even managed to stay with them (apart from on the climbs of course).

I have been able to get a place on the Ride London -Surrey 100.
It all sounds great fun but I am a bit concerned about the logistical side of it - getting into London with the bike and then getting out again. The start is at the Olympic site where there is no parking and the finish is outside 'er ...

Clearly both Steve and yourself must be commended for setting up this ride which is justified by the numbers of riders doing it.

Really enjoyed the whole thing, sorry I did not get back to the HQ after I left but ended up chin wagging down at the Clifton stand where there were many cliftonites hanging out. Give me a shout next year!
