Re: Club Annual Dinner and prize giving

Sorry for the late comments. I've been to the past few dinners and the numbers attending were impressive. Perhaps background 'bullying' had to go on to achieve the numbers. The late spring family inclusive drinks and meal is an excellent idea, but perhaps not for the prize giving. This is essential ...

Kidscan

Sorry this is late. I agree with what Dr Dave said.
The other problem is the number of sportives and fundraising events. The same people get asked to donate every time . Before I retired, we had all come to the conclusion that it was best not to seek sponsorship at work, but just make a donation ...

Cliftonite magazine-a call for a front page photo

The Cliftonite committee met tonight to discuss the new colour edition, and I'm pleased to say that we are on target to publish next month.

However, we need a colour photo for the front page. It will be hard to beat the current Cliftonite black and white photo of the bike in the snow, but please ...

Advertising in the new Cliftonite [Paper and Web]

Just in case some racing cyclists don't read the general discussion pages, could you please check the general discussion board for an important announcement about advertising in the new Cliftonite to be published soon.
Thanks,
Trevor

Advertising in the new Cliftonite [paper and web]

As I'm sure you all know by now, the new larger A4 and colour Cliftonite is due to be published soon in paper form and on the Web.

I am dealing with advertising and publicity. If you, or anyone you know, work in a cycle shop or in support services such as training, physiotherapy etc., and would ...

York City racing 2011-any photos?

Following Darren's hard work organising a team to relaunch the Cliftonite, I thought I might write an article on the York City racing in July last year.

However, I have no photographs of the event. We plan to publish quality colour photographs to accompany articles. I would be most grateful for any ...

Sorry Bernard. I would like to do it as well, but 90 miles and a likely wet day mean this is just a bit too much for me after only a little winter riding.

It seems there is enthusiasm for the paper Cliftonite and it acts as a permanent record of proceedings, unlike computer records with ever changing storage methods [tapes, floppy discs, hard discs etc etc.]

Good news-5 or 6 of us are meeting on Wednesday to take it forward. We will take into ...

Cliftonite Autumn/winter 2011-well done

Thanks to Cath and everyone else who helped make this edition particularly interesting. Cover photo brings back fond memories of last winter.
Well done Amanda for doing the Camino de Santiago trip and for your hints on travel to Europe.

I'm pleased Dr Dave brought this subject up. The replies have been interesting and it's clear to me that there should be 3 rides on a Saturday given the increasing numbers and widely differing abilities and expectations.
I joined the club 3 years ago and the K ride attracted 3-10 and the distance ...

new club kit

Sorry I missed the chance to comment on the kit design, but if it's not finalised, wouldn't it be better to have the Clifton name horizontally on the back rather than vertically.
I like the white rose and everything else about it.

new venue for superb cycling holiday /training in France

I have recently returned from a wonderful cycling holiday in the Correze region to see the Tour de France through the Massif Central area.
It only opened a few weeks ago and is run by an English couple who have spent 3 years doing it up. Best English matresses, pillows and towels but everything ...

second hand classic and modern cycle shoes for free

A friend has been clearing out the house and sending clothes to a charity shop, but noticed a pair of late 1970s Carnac cycling shoes size 46 and a modern pair of size 46 SPD cleated shoes. Both in very good condition. Not sure the normal shoe collecting charities will want them. Any interest?
