Re: Training ride, Saturday 1st

Not quite sure what happened today. Was comfortable until Bubwith after the lights at the bridge. I just seemed to pop and even at 25 mph didn't have the pace to get back on. HR was much higher this week for some reason, 15 bpm higher than normal at 163. Must be down to the week off work and cycling.

Re: Training ride, Saturday 25th

Great ride again today guys. I started in the 3rd, apparently steadiest, group with Phil and 6 others only to become the 1st group by the time we reached the Sheriff Cricket Club after passing the other two groups along the way. We let the brisker guys retain their dignity as we stopped to re-group ...

Re: Training ride, Saturday 4th

Cheers for the ride guys. I sloped off quietly from the brisker (second group) at Wheldrake for a shorter ride home. Too much over indulging and not enough pedalling over the Christmas period mend my legs blew up just 2 miles from home.

Re: North Yorkshire Evening Road Race League 2014

Hi Phil, I'm wanting to start some racing this year. Am I safe to jump straight in on the Cat 4 race on 1st May? Assuming I've been on plenty of training rides between now and then!
I'm assuming a silver membership is all I need?

Thanks.

Seeing the big 1st group head out, I thought I should be heading out with those guys! 3.5 hours later after limping home with zero power left in my legs I was glad I decided against it.

Thanks for the ride guys. Hopefully I can drag myself out of my pit a few more times this winter

Thanks Sharpy,

I saw a couple at tockwith when Toby was riding the other year. Will pop over one Tuesday, then maybe give it a go the following week. Can't promise I won't try chase everything down tho. I imagine I'll blow up a few times before I complete a race.

We'll see.

Racing wannabe - advice welcome

I'm wanting to give racing a go but wondering when and where do I start. I know I need a licence and a BC membership so once I have these where's the best place to start? I'd hate to roll up at the circuit and take out everyone behind me cause of my in experience.

Do any of you seasoned racers ...

I have Bloc Shadow glasses. They have a mouldable bridge. Very comfortable, 3 sets of lenses that are easy to change once you figure out how to do it. Retail around 50 quid but can be picked up for about 35 quid.
