Iceni Velo - Iceni Biceni 200Km

I rode the above event last year - it was lovely weather, different roads in rural Norfolk and a great day out.
The Audax is https://icenivelo.co.uk/audax
Iceni Velo are a really friendly and active club - everyone was really good fun to ride with - I learned quite bit a about Norfolk - such as the ...

Broomwagon's Weekly Update

Sadly no Inters club run this week but Thursday was such a lovely day I couldn't resist a ride to the coast. A lovely route I often take: over the climb past the transmitter mast at Acklam Wold, down through Birdsall then that lovely undulating climb towards Wharram Le Street, via Bempton then a ...

Re: Sunday Clubrun, 28th May, Scotton 130

Sorry for my impromptu bail out on ride yesterday but I was running on nothing but bravado by that stage, so a wise choice in the end I think. A good ride, with good company. I think I've worn out a MTB tyre on all that tarmac though.

It's the end of cycling as we know it.

Sounds melodramatic? You can't have missed the first case of mechanical doping. You can already buy an electric motor which gives 200 watts (check GCN) for £2500 which no-one would know you had in your bike - so how would you know if your mate was using one, who on a club run had one, who on a ...

Graham Wanless

I don't know if anyone from the club knew him, but I note Graham Wanless has sadly died. He was a reasonably regular entrant to our own Tanhill Audax and rode many of the local Audax rides. Reading his obituary he started riding as a teenager with his father but soon got better and then joined a ...

No reliability this year?

Is there one? Admittedly I'm so old and fat that it would near kill me -but I've probably not missed more than two in the last twenty years.......so is there one?

Re: Possible future Inters ride destination - seeking opinio

Sorry gents I should have read your posts before posting on the weekend roundup, but I'm also planning a Shibden wall ride. My route would be the usual route out, Wetherby, Sicklinghall, Pool, Shipley, back roads to the wall and then attempting to find a relatively flat route somewhere Brighouse ...

Re: Weekend round-up 30th/31st May

Sorry Rob we did come back looking for you but you must have gone a different route through Wetherby. You must really have put the hammer down then though (probably thinking you were chasing us), because despite Shaun & Eric driving us on at 25 - 27mph we never caught you. Probably being 20 years ...

Re: Opportunity for ride out with Marcel Kittel & Giant Alpe

I was there and sorry to those that missed it, but it was really good. Clearly the squad were just on tick over at the head of the peloton but it would have been brisk for a club run with the pace rarely dropping below 21 and often at plus 25mph - I can't imagine what they'd be like on full gas or ...

Weekend roundup 18/19

As expected I got a bit of gentle teasing about suggesting the Sunday club run did a few more miles than trailed. As it happened I got the prescribed 100 in by the time I got to my door, though, we were doing this sort of mileage in some horrible conditions over winter. Some of those rides had me ...

I'll do whatever is required though may fall asleep at the wheel or roadside after doing the Wiggy 300 the day before.

Re: Sunday Clubrun

Get lost then.... I mean that in good way :) .I thought Filey was a bit less than that, it probably is from my house. I've just picked up my new Clifton gear, I haven't had any new kit in ages and it looks really good and fits well. With helmet and glasses on I look like the sort of cyclist who ...

Re: Sunday Clubrun

I should be out ( unless something crops up). Could you pick a route to Filey that builds in a few extra miles? I was hoping the usual Sunday suspects will be intending to ride the Wiggy 300 together? That being the case we don't want to be doing much less than 100 mile rides on the run up to it.

Re: Weekend Roundup

If you're only going to have two riders on a club run though - you two are the best of the best.

Phew what a damned fine excellent weekend it was for me , it started early for me - Thursday afternoon. I've been going to Sheffield once a fortnight for three years for work, why have I never thought ...

Re: Nutcracker XC MTB - 2015

I'm doing Dalby fun category - I might do the vets in the afternoon too, if weather conditions are good. I expect to do Gandale and Dales bike centre too.
